Striker reveals Derby's determination to be successful this season.

Chris Martin says Derby County’s squad is hungry for success.

25-year-old striker Martin has grabbed the headlines in recent weeks with five goals in his last four matches to help fire the Rams up to fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship.

However he has been quick to deflect the praise onto his team-mates and says the entire squad is determined to prove their six-game winning run is no fluke.

He told Rams Player: “Richard Keogh said in an interview a few days ago that we’re a hungry group - and we are.

“I think that is key; every single one of us is hungry to do well and be successful.

“When you’ve got that and the belief which we have within the dressing room, you’re onto something.”

Martin is convinced Derby have everything going their way in order to mount a serious challenge to retain their place in the top six of the Championship for the rest of the season.

He accepts that the Rams have done what he describes as the ‘easy part’ by breaking into the playoff places and insists the hard work starts now.

“The infrastructure is there to be successful here at Derby County,” he said.

“The fans are brilliant, we have a top stadium and the training facilities are second to none so everything is there for us to kick on.

“The hardest part is doing it out there on the field but at the moment we’re doing it.

“Nothing is won in December though and that’s why we cannot afford to get ahead of ourselves.

“We’re enjoying it at the moment but if we are to do be successful there’s plenty more hard to work that needs to be put in.”
