Ten goals in 16 appearances would represent a good return for any wideman. Tom Ince, though, is just targeting more between now and the end of the season.

In a hugely productive loan spell since joining for Barclays Premier League side Hull City at the end of January, Ince’s third brace of the season took him into double figures from the wide right position with the Rams.

His latest two came in the weekend’s thrilling 4-4 draw with Huddersfield Town and were just the latest blockbuster strikes in his time with Steve McClaren’s side.

“Eluding is the right word! It has been frustrating that I haven’t been able to get the third,” Ince told dcfc.co.uk.

“Over the past few weeks, I have felt that I haven’t got enough shots away on goal, so it was nice to get back on the score sheet against Blackpool, my old club, and I just tried to do the same again against Huddersfield.

“I had a couple of sights and I managed to get one and it was fantastic to get the second. To score goals for this Club and these fans is a phenomenal feeling and I just want to keep giving something back to them.

“When I play, I just want to excite people by creating and scoring goals. To have 10 goals in 16 games is a good ratio, but I am just looking to build on that.”

The 23-year-old’s fine scoring record is down to a number of factors.

Amongst them is freedom, belief and happiness and Ince is just looking to repay those at Derby County that are giving him the chance to shine once again on the field by helping the Club ‘achieve something special’ come the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

He added: “The biggest thing for me is just having the opportunity to play. The Head Coach is giving me tremendous faith and belief to play, as have the fans and everybody else at this Club.

“They have said that I have had a tricky time over the last six to 12 months, but they are giving me the freedom to play and that’s when I’m at my happiest.

“When I’m happy playing my football, that’s when my best performances come out. To score the goals from the wide positions is an added bonus, but I’m just aiming to help this team achieve something special.”
