Derby County striker Conor Sammon has joined Sky Bet League 1 side Sheffield United on a season-long deal.

The 28-year-old completed the formalities of the deal to spend the entire 2015/16 campaign at Bramall Lane this evening.

Sammon, who has nine Republic of Ireland caps, went out on loan during two separate spells last season in the Sky Bet Championship – first at Ipswich Town between August and January before linking up with Rotherham United from January until the middle of April.

Derby County Head Coach Paul Clement said: “I am pleased that Conor has agreed a season-long loan to Sheffield United, as he is in the last year of his contract and it is important that he is playing regular first-team football.

“He is very popular amongst his colleagues at Derby County and we wish him every success whilst on loan.”

Sheffield United, who are now managed by the former Southampton and Reading boss Nigel Adkins, narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Championship after being defeated in the Play-Off Semi-Finals last season.
