Derby County’s Andreas Weimann and Alex Pearce took time out of their busy schedules to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support on Wednesday afternoon.

The summer signings, who joined the Rams in June from Aston Villa and Reading respectively, attended a charity car wash at club partner Motorpoint.

They made the trip to Motorpoint’s Pentagon Island premises straight after training as Paul Clement’s side continue to prepare for the opening game of the 2015/16 season at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

During their hour-long visit at the event, Motorpoint agreed to donate £50 to Macmillan Cancer Support for every car that the players washed - with the final total coming in at £500.

Club Mascot Rammie was also in attendance to lend a helping hand, while everyone that had their car washed were entered into a prize draw to win the brand new Derby home shirt.

Weimann, celebrating his 24th birthday today, said: “It was good fun and to be honest, I haven’t washed a car for quite a while!

“It is for good cause, Macmillan Cancer Support, and I was happy to show my support.”

Pearce commented: “I used to wash my dad’s car when I was a young lad, which was a few years ago now, and I think we did a good job.

“We got our hands dirty and it was all good fun, helping to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”

Motorpoint recently agreed a partnership agreement with the club which will see its adverts displayed on the perimeter LED system at all of the Rams’ Sky Bet Championship home games, as well as the giant 40m external LED screen outside the iPro Stadium.
