Derby County defeated Notts County 7-1 in a behind closed doors friendly at the Training Centre in partnership with the University of Derby.

Andreas Weimann and Tom Ince both bagged hat tricks, whilst Darren Bent was also on target against the Sky Bet League 2.

After a bright start by the visitors, the Rams only grew stronger as the game went on and really showed their quality by hitting three goals in a ruthless six minute spell.

Weimann kicked the scoring off with a close range finish, converting Craig Bryson’s low centre from the right, before Tom Ince, superbly, curled in his first of three standout finishes in the contest.

On the half hour mark, Bent then finished across the Notts goalkeeper from a tight angle, before the visitors hit back with a goal of their own, a sweet strike from the edge of the area.

Shortly before the interval, Derby hit back to add their fourth of the game as Weimann scored his second of the contest to round off a free-flowing move that started from defence.

In the second half, and after Notts made several changes, the Rams added three further goals.

First, Weimann completed his hat trick with a cute first time finish, before Ince rifled in his second of the game with a low drive.

The 23-year-old wideman added his third with a lobbed effort after latching on to Lee Grant’s long punt up field to complete the scoring.

Youngsters Callum Guy, Offrande Zanzala and Alex Cover also featured as second half substitutes.
