Kelle Roos made his first appearance since moving to Sky Bet League 2 side AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, helping the Dons to a 4-1 home win over Luton Town.
The 23-year-old Dutchman linked up with Neil Ardley’s play-off chasing outfit earlier this month in a loan deal until the end of the campaign.
Only a fine strike from Jack Marriott denied the goalkeeper a clean sheet on his debut.
Speaking after the game, Roos said: “I have to be honest and I don’t know what the standard in League 2 is like, but I think we have got great players.
“We have all sorts of good players with strong attackers, quick forwards and goalscorers. We have midfielders who want the ball and do the dirty work, along with strong defenders. I think we have a lot of everything and therefore a very strong team.”
The result leaves the Dons three points outside the play-off places with 29 games played.
Ryan Shotton made his Birmingham City debut at right-back and played the full 90 minutes in their 0-0 draw at Derby’s Sky Bet Championship rivals Rotherham United, for whom Farrend Rawson wasn’t involved in their first matchday squad following the appointment of Neil Warnock as their manager towards the end of last week.
Shotton said after the game: “I thought we should have pushed for a few more chances if I’m honest. Neil Warnock sets them up to be aggressive and hardworking, but we said at half-time if we stay tight the game will open up and that’s what’s happened.”
Also an unused substitute in the Championship was Alex Pearce at Bristol City, as Lee Johnson’s men registered a vital 2-1 home victory over Ipswich Town at Ashton Gate in their fight against relegation.
Forward Mason Bennett produced a Man of the Match display on Friday night as he helped Burton Albion to a 1-0 victory over Chesterfield at the Pirelli Stadium, retaining their place at the top of the Sky Bet League 1 table.
Also in League 1, striker Conor Sammon was an unused substitute as Sheffield United maintained their play-off charge with a 1-0 success at Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Back in League 2, striker Offrande Zanzala failed to come off the bench as Stevenage moved further away from the relegation zone with a 2-0 home win over Cambridge United.
In the National League, frontman Shaquille McDonald failed to feature in the FC Halifax Town squad as they were beaten at home 2-0 by Forest Green Rovers.
On the continent in Spain, Raul Albentosa played the entire 90 minutes, and was booked, as Malaga were beaten 1-0 away to Villarreal.Tweets by @ dcfcofficial
