Chris Martin is hoping to build on his first-ever international goal when Scotland take on Denmark on Tuesday evening.
Martin, 27, scored his first goal on the international stage for his country in their 6-0 2016 European Championships qualifier away to Gibraltar in October.
After failing to qualify for this summer’s Championships, Scotland boss Gordon Strachan is utilising as many players as possible during the March international window.
Strachan named separate squads for Thursday’s game away to the Czech Republic and the home encounter with Denmark, with Martin, who has seven full caps, named in the party for the second of the friendly games.
Martin, who has scored 13 goals for Derby this season, is relishing the prospect of proving his worth ahead of the start of Scotland’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, which begins in September.
He told Rams Player HD: “I’m looking forward to it – we face Denmark at Hampden Park and it will be great, if I get the chance, to pull the jersey back on and get some minutes under my belt.
“Trying to show the manager that we should be in his plans is going to be in the mind of every single player there over the next week or so.
“We are looking towards the World Cup qualifying campaign now and this is a time for the manager to experiment with his squad and team selection.
“He will be looking to see what we bring to the table and that’s what he will see with the two different squads.
“Hopefully I can go and impress him, build on my first goal, and we will move on from there.”
When Martin returns to Derby following the Denmark game, his focus will turn towards the Rams’ final eight games of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Darren Wassall’s side currently occupy fifth spot in the table and Martin is relishing the run-in.
He said: “We’ve got some big games coming up and we’re all determined to be successful.
“We went into the break off the back of a win against Forest and hopefully that will be a springboard for us.
“We’ve got plenty of games coming up against teams in and around us so it’s important time for us – and a real opportunity to kick on as well.”
