A group of Derby County’s first-team players made visits to various coaching sessions yesterday as part of the Derby County Community Trust’s Half Term Holiday Courses.

Richard Keogh, David Nugent, Chris Baird, Scott Carson, Jacob Butterfield and Matej Vydra made the surprise appearances to visit groups of excited youngsters in venues across Derbyshire.

The coaching courses, which run over every school holiday, have seen close to 400 budding young footballers take to the pitch to practice their skills and take part in matches whilst off school.

The appearances, which took place at the Powerleague Soccerdome in Derby, Springfield School in Swadlincote and Ashbourne Recreation Ground, sparked a lot of excitement amongst the young participants, many of whom are big Derby supporters.

The players got involved in the sessions by helping the participants with their skills, signing autographs and taking plenty of time to pose for photos - as well as taking part in question and answer sessions. Some of the kids at Ashbourne were even lucky enough to receive Richard Keogh and David Nugent’s signed football boots!

Next up for the Derby County Community Trust are the Easter Holiday’s with courses taking place in Derby, Swadlincote, Ripley, Belper, and Whaley bridge.
