After several setbacks and postponements in line with government restrictions, Derby County Community Trust are thrilled to announce that 2021’s Derby 10K will take place on Sunday 17th October.
All 2020 entrants will be contacted regarding their entry depending on which option they chose following last year’s cancellation.
Entries will go on sale from Monday 26th July for those who took part in last year’s virtual event, with general sale starting on Tuesday 27th July at 10am.
The Derby 10K is the city’s largest running event, attracting over 5,000 participants each year and seeing the streets of Derby come together to support runners, who may be competing for the first time, aiming for a personal best or supporting a charitable cause.
The event is also the largest fundraiser for Derby County Community Trust, which aims to use the power of Derby County Football Club to improve lives and communities through sport, physical activity, health and education.
Emma Pilgrim, Events and Fundraising Manager at the Trust said: “It’s been a hugely difficult 18 months with changing restrictions to try and get the event rearranged on many occasions, but as we have now entered a time period where we are seeing large-scale events return to our calendars, we could not be more thrilled to be welcoming runners back.
“As a charity, the Derby 10K is vitally important for our fundraising, and it also brings so much to the city. Nothing can beat that Sunday morning where the roads are taken over by thousands of dedicated runners and we really have missed being able to host such a fantastic event.”
The course will begin and end as usual at Pride Park Stadium, taking in the sights of the city centre in a largely flat and circular route.
Long a staple in the annual calendar of the city, this year’s event continues to be supported by fantastic partners, including headline sponsors HUUB Design.
The Derby 10K will revert to its usual springtime date in 2022, taking place on Sunday 10th April. Entries to this event will be made available after the Autumn event.
