First Team Coach
Chris Jones joined Frank Lampard’s backroom staff in late June 2018 as a first-team coach.
Jones comes to Derby County from Chelsea where he spent 12 seasons and worked closely with Lampard during the Rams manager’s playing career.
After graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Sports Science, Jones spent three years working with Fulham’s academy.
In 2006 he moved to Chelsea, initially working with the academy at Stamford Bridge. Upon the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti in 2009, Jones stepped up to the first team and was promoted to fitness coach following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas in March 2012.
Two months later under Roberto Di Matteo, Jones and Lampard lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy with Chelsea.
During his time in West London, Jones worked with Ancelotti, Villas-Boas, Di Matteo, Rafael Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Antonio Conte.
Jones, who made appearances for England Under-18s and played at youth level for Luton Town and Peterborough, has also worked with England Under-19s and Under-21s.
