Jonathan Mitchell provided competition for Scott Carson during the 2017/18 campaign, whilst he also proved his worth when appearing for Darren Wassall's Under-23s.
His two first team appearances both came in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town and Barnsley.
For the Under-23s, he appeared eight times in the league, including the season-defining clash with West Ham United, where he kept a clean sheet.
In the four years that Mitchell, also a keen rugby player, has been at the club, his development has been there for all to see.
He was an unused substitute on a handful of occasions during the 2014/15 season for the first-team, with his match action coming in the then Derby’s Under-21 side, and his impressive performances and development during the season saw him sign a new contract.
In no mood to stop the following year, the 2015/16 season proved to be just as successful.
The young goalkeeper made his professional debut for Derby in an Emirates FA Cup Third Round meeting against his hometown club Hartlepool United - and also had a successful loan spell with Sky Bet League 2 side Luton Town, where he made six appearances before being recalled.
He also played a large chunk of the fixtures as Derby’s Under 21s lifted the Barclays Under-21 Premier League – Division 2 title and helped Darren Wassall’s Under-23s retain their Division 1 status over the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns.
The 'keeper has also made a single appearance for England Under-21s.
