Prior to the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship curtain-raiser against Huddersfield Town, Derby County secured the signing of Ravel Morrison on a one-year contract.
The 28-year-old had been training with the Rams throughout the summer and put pen-to-paper on a deal with the club.
Morrison made an immediate impact for Derby, scoring on his competitive debut in the Carabao Cup First Round victory over Sky Bet League Two side Salford City.
He volleyed home from 20 yards into the top corner to draw the Rams level in the tie, before progressing through to the Second Round stage via a penalty shootout victory.
The attack-minded midfielder began his playing career at his hometown club Manchester United after coming through their youth system.
After making three first-team appearances for the Red Devils, Morrison moved south to join West Ham United in 2012.
Loan spells at Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City followed ahead of a transfer to Italian side Lazio in 2015.
Morrison had loan stints back at Queens Park Rangers and with Mexican side Atlas Fútbol Club, prior to sealing a permanent switch to Swedish side Östersunds FK in 2019.
He returned to England with Sheffield United in the Premier League for the 2019/20 season, while he also had a brief loan spell at Middlesbrough during the same campaign.
Morrison’s next stop, for the 2020/21 season, saw him once again move abroad, this time in Holland, to play for ADO Den Haag prior to becoming a free agent earlier this year.
On the international stage, Morrison represented England at youth international level but also qualifies to play for Jamaica and he has picked up three senior caps.
He made his international bow against Saudi Arabia in November 2020 and his most recent cap came in June of this year in a 1-1 friendly draw against Serbia.
