Head Goalkeeping Coach
Shay Given joined Frank Lampard’s backroom staff in late June 2018 in the position of Head Goalkeeping Coach.
It is the former Ireland goalkeeper’s first coaching role but he brings more than two decades of playing experience to Derby County.
Given is most recognised for his outstanding contributions to Newcastle United where he spent 12 seasons and made more than 450 appearances for the club.
Given reached two FA Cup finals with the Magpies as well as playing in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup leading him to break the club’s record for number of European match appearances.
He was signed at Newcastle by Kenny Dalglish after the pair worked together at Blackburn Rovers where Given made his first of almost 900 Premier League appearances.
Given, who represented Ireland 134 times over 20 years, moved on from Newcastle to play for Manchester City, Aston Villa and Stoke City.
While at Villa, Given was appointed temporary assistant to Paul Lambert in the final weeks of the 2013/14 season and helped the struggling side avoid relegation.
He called time on his illustrious career aged 41 at the end of the 2016/17 season.
