Clough challenges striker to keep scoring.

Nigel Clough says he’s delighted to see Nathan Tyson in goalscoring form – and is urging the striker to maintain his hot streak in front of goal.

The first international break of the season arrives at the start of September, and Clough has challenged the striker to keep firing home the goals before the two week break.

Tyson followed up his pre-season strike against Sunderland with his first-ever competitive goal since his arrival from Nottingham Forest last summer in last week’s Capital One Cup draw with Scunthorpe United.

Then, having been given the nod to start ahead of fellow striker Theo Robinson alongside Jamie Ward in Saturday’s Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday, he swept Derby ahead with his first league goal for the Club.

On Tyson’s current form, Clough said: “It’s great to see Nathan in form and three goals in three games suggests he’s bang in form.

“Pleasingly, his goals have come in the six yard box and that’s where strikers should be and it’s pleasing to see Nathan scoring goals and playing a part.

“He needs to keep getting in there and we’ll keep encouraging him to do so, because that’s where the majority of strikers get their goals.

“It’s almost like he’s a different player now and you can see the confidence flowing through him at the moment

“After not scoring last season we’re hoping things average out and he gets fair share, and we would love him to keep his form going before the first international break.”

Derby have three more fixtures to play before the two-week break, away to Bolton Wanderers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as at home to Watford at the start of September.
