Derby County's official club partner, the University of Derby, has been named ‘UK University of the Year’ in the 2027 Uni Compare rankings.

More than 24,000 students reviewed 323 universities nationwide. The outcome of these reviews resulted in Derby being placed at the top of the 2027 league table.
The University climbed six places to secure the number one position overall. It was also ranked first in the UK for employability, second for accommodation and second for course quality. 97% of students who submitted reviews for Derby said they would recommend the University to a friend.
The Uni Compare rankings are based on independent data and reviews from current and former students, assessing a range of categories across accommodation, course quality, employability and student social life.
The table is designed to “truly reflect the university experience” and offer the chance for prospective students to “compare universities ahead of starting in 2027”.
Derby County and the University of Derby have a long-standing partnership.
The club and the University’s multiple collaborations allow students to learn in a real-world football environment through workshops and sessions at Pride Park Stadium and Moor Farm Training Centre, while also having opportunities to gain valuable work experience on placements with the Rams.

Professor Kathryn Mitchell CBE DL, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Derby, said: “To be named the UK's best university by students is an exceptional achievement and one we are immensely proud of because it comes directly from those who know us best.
“Students choose Derby because they gain far more than a degree. Our number one ranking for employability reflects the outstanding opportunities available to them – from working with industry partners and developing their own business ideas to gaining invaluable experience through placements.
"This recognition demonstrates the value students place on their experience at Derby and the increased social capital they gain, as reflected in their willingness to recommend us to others. That is one of the strongest endorsements any university can receive."
The University of Derby is recognised for its world-leading research and TEF gold-standard teaching excellence, offering industry-integrated courses ranging from foundation and undergraduate degrees to postgraduate study and research.
The University has further strengthened its links with business and industry with the recent launch of its Chancellor’s Entrepreneurs’ Club in collaboration with Dragons' Den investor Theo Paphitis and its Chancellor, William Cavendish, Earl of Burlington, Chair of The Devonshire Group, giving students direct access to influential business leaders and mentors.
Students benefit from links with leading global organisations, including Google, Amazon Business, Rolls-Royce, Toyota, the NHS, McDonald's, Intercontinental Exchange and the National Gallery.
Prospective students can find out more about studying at Derby by attending the University’s next Open Days on Friday 19 June and Saturday 20 June.
Expert teams will be on hand to provide advice on courses, student life and career opportunities, with eligible applicants able to receive an offer on the day.
