The Rams will continue their preparations for the 2012-13 campaign tonight, with a pre-season friendly at League 2 Northampton Town (7:30pm).
Nigel Clough's side kicked off their pre-season campaign last Wednesday with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Mansfield Town, which was followed up with a 1-0 victory at Burton Albion on Saturday courtesy of Michael Jacobs’s 49th minute winner at the Pirelli Stadium.
This week the Rams' preparations will increase with two more games, firstly against Aidy Boothroyd’s men at Sixfields tonight and then League 1 side Colchester United on Friday before returning to Derbyshire to continue preparing for the new season.
Derby County Team News
Goalkeeper Adam Legzdins (dead leg) is expected to be available for selection at Sixfields, after missing Derby's first two pre-season matches. However, the game has come too soon for full-back Gareth Roberts, who remains sidelined with a tight hamstring.
Elsewhere, defender Mark O’Brien came through his first 13 minutes of match action unscathed at Burton since suffering a cruciate ligament injury in training back in December last year and should feature again.
Rams boss Clough has confirmed midfielder Craig Bryson’s withdrawal after 45 minutes during Saturday’s 1-0 win over the Brewers was precautionary, and the Scot is hopeful of featuring on Tuesday night.
Academy graduate Will Hughes (thigh) is doubtful after picking up a minor knock in the victory at the Pirelli Stadium, however, 18-year-old Swiss defender Valentin Gjokaj will get another chance to impress, after starting both the Rams’ opening two pre-season friendlies at Mansfield Town and Burton Albion respectively.
