Derby County Under-21s' Central League campaign concluded with a 4-3 defeat to Sunderland on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams looked to be cruising to victory after a relentless first-half saw them 3-0 up within the opening 40 minutes.

But the hosts were awarded a lifeline in the dying stages of the half when they were awarded a penalty which was duly dispatched to change both team talks at the break.

Jaydon Jones cut the lead to just one five minutes after the restart and the game was all square on 75 minutes when Kailem Beattie levelled things up.

The game looked to be heading for a draw following that until Aaron Chung struck in stoppage time to break the young Rams' hearts and complete a quite remarkable comeback from Sunderland.
