Match Report

Derby County Under-18s returned to action following the November international break with a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in their final Premier League Cup Group H tie.

The Under-18s entered the two-week break from competitive action off the back of a run of three wins from their previous four outings in league action, scoring ten goals in the process.

After defeating Burnley 2-1 on home turf and drawing at 2-2 Reading earlier in the season, the Rams visited Spurs sitting top of Group H but with their opponents hot on their heels.

Reiss Elliott-Parris put the home side ahead after just five minutes at Hotspur Way, before Oliver Boast doubled their lead just before half-time to leave Bradley Johnson’s side with a mountain to climb.

Derby got a goal back midway through the second half courtesy of Charlie Smith’s second goal of the season for Under-18s.

The Rams pressed forward in the closing stages in search of a leveller and dominated for long spells, but the home side held on to claim all three points.

The result sees Spurs leapfrog the Rams at the summit of Group H and subsequently qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.
