Forward plays 83 minutes as Jamaica fall to a narrow defeat against Serbia.
Derby County’s Simon Dawkins made his international debut for Jamaica on Monday evening in their 2-1 defeat to Serbia.
Dawkins, who qualifies for Jamaica through his grandparents, was named in the starting line-up for the international friendly at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
He played 83 minutes in an attacking midfield role and went agonisingly close to making it 2-2 with a powerful second half effort, which went just wide.
Dawkins could feature in Jamaica’s other friendly matches against Switzerland (30th May), Egypt (4th June) and France (8th June) in the next fortnight.
Dawkins made 30 appearances for the Rams and scored on four occasions in the 2013/14 season and is one of seven players from Steve McClaren’s squad currently on international duty.
Richard Keogh, Jeff Hendrick & Conor Sammon (Republic of Ireland) and Craig Bryson, Chris Martin and Craig Forsyth (Scotland) are also away on international duty.
