Rams make four new appointments within their scouting department.
Derby County has made four key appointments to its scouting team.
On his appointment as Head Coach at the end of September 2013, Steve McClaren had highlighted the importance of recruitment in both the UK and abroad.
Head of Football Operations Chris Evans has overseen the changes to the scouting system at the club and he explained: “It’s profoundly important we develop relationships and contacts with clubs and agents both home and abroad in our quest to attract the calibre of players to Derby County that will allow us to achieve short, medium and long-term objectives for the club.”
As a result, Derby County have made the following appointments:
DEREK BRAGG- CHIEF SCOUT
Derek has a wealth of experience having been Chief Scout at three other Football League clubs. He also set up and managed ‘The Scouting Network’, as well as having worked at ‘Scout7’ and ‘WyScout’. His playing career saw him make over 300 appearances for the Bundesliga club, Hertha Berlin.
MO CAMARA - HEAD OF EUROPEAN SCOUTING
Mo is no stranger to Derby County having been part of the squad that was promoted to the Premier League in 2007. He also had Champions League experience at Celtic. In the past four years, Mo has been a member of the European Recruitment team at Premier League Sunderland.
JAMIE JOHNSON - HEAD OF UK SCOUTING
Jamie is the former Chief Scout of Millwall, a position he held for four years between 2009 and 2013 after being appointed by Kenny Jackett. Johnson has also worked in scouting roles at both Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur previously.
JOE McCLAREN- HEAD OF UNDER 21 RECRUITMENT
Joe is a specialist recruitment analyst who has worked at a number of Football League clubs and for the last two years he has worked full-time at FC Twente in Holland.
In addition to the full-time appointments, the department will, in due course, be employing strategically placed recruiters in the UK and Europe.
Evans added: “Steve and I are working closely together to ensure Derby County attracts quality players.
“It’s a team effort and the ideas we both have are slowly coming to fruition.”
