It was a good afternoon for on-loan attacker Luke Thomas for Coventry City on Saturday, however, he may not remember much of it.

The on-loan Derby County man provided the assist for the Sky Blues’ opening goal in their 2-1 victory against Peterborough United, but he was carried off on 74 minutes following a clash with Posh forward Lee Tomlin.

A high boot connected with Thomas’ head and he was stretchered off, however, his team managed to hold on to the three points which moves them to within a point of the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

Thomas tweeted after the game and said: “Just left the hospital. Thanks for the messages. Another great win.”

Elsewhere in the division midfielder, Jacob Butterfield played 82 minutes in Bradford City’s 1-0 defeat against Oxford United which saw them fall to the foot of the table, whilst Jonathan Mitchell (Shrewsbury Town) and George Thorne (Luton Town) did not feature for their loans this weekend.

Alex Pearce’s Millwall came within seconds of a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, however, were eventually beaten on penalties by Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

Pearce opened the scoring for the Lions in the second half as he headed home from a corner but two late goals from Brighton saw the game go to extra time following a 2-2 draw. The Premier League side would eventually triumph on penalties.

In the Championship, Chris Martin came on as a 77th minute for Hull City but they could only draw with Queens Park Rangers, whilst in League Two, Timi Elsnik was an unused substitute for Northampton Town in their goalless draw against Grimsby.

North of the border, it was a frustrating afternoon for Max Lowe as his Aberdeen side could only draw 1-1 at home to Livingston in the Scottish Premiership.

The full-back played the full game but would have been disappointed not to pick up the three points. The point, however, does keep them in third position heading into the international break. St Mirren’s game against St Johnstone was postponed, meaning Kyle McAllister was not in action.

In the National League, Aaron Eyoma, fresh from a man-of-the-match performance in his last game, was unable to help Braintree Town to victory at the weekend. They lost 2-1 to second-placed Solihull Moors but the midfielder did play the full game.

Matt Yates, on loan at Hereford FC, was not in action this weekend as their game against Alfreton Town was postponed, whilst Nick Blackman did not feature for Sporting Gijon at the weekend.
