Derby County striking duo Luke Plange and Colin Kazim-Richards have been nominated for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award for December.

The pair have been in inspired form of late and played a key role as Derby recorded three wins from four in the final month of 2021 to move on to ten points in the Sky Bet Championship, following a 21-point deduction earlier in the campaign.

Plange and Kazim-Richards scored two goals each in December as the Rams picked up a trio of consecutive wins to end the year in style.

Plange marked his full professional league debut against Blackpool with the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory at Pride Park Stadium.

The striker reacted quickest at the back post to convert from close range as the Rams recorded their first victory of the month.

Kazim-Richards was Derby’s hero in their final home game of 2021 as the striker capitalised on an error between West Bromwich Albion defender Cedric Kipre and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

After only entering the field of play a minute earlier, the 35-year-old fired into the empty goal from 25 yards to secure another valuable three points for Derby and net his first league goal of the season.

Three days later, Derby capped off 2021 with an impressive 2-1 victory against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium in only their second away victory of the campaign.

Plange scored his second goal in three appearances as he capped off a lovely team move to put Derby ahead in the first half.

Former Ram Tom Ince equalised for the Potters late in the game, but with only five minutes of the game remaining, Kazim-Richards popped up with his second of the month to secure a third successive victory.

The pair have been nominated for the award alongside AFC Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, Blackburn's Ben Brereton-Diaz and Middlesbrough duo Andraz Sporar and Paddy McNair.
