Derby County midfielder Max Bird says the players in the dressing room were 'extremely annoyed' with not being able to take three points away at Morecambe on Tuesday evening.
The Rams played out a 1-1 draw with the Shrimps in Sky Bet League One, with Louie Sibley on target, but missed several key chances on the night, including two penalties with James Collins and David McGoldrick having their efforts saved.
Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle the midfielder, who is captaining the side in the absence of the injured Curtis Davies, spoke of his frustration at the result.
On the result...
It should have been more than one point. We started off a bit slow. We knew what we had to do break them down. We missed two penalties but nobody misses them on purpose - we had enough chances to win the game.
I gave a poor pass away in the middle of the pitch and they countered and scored from it so I take responsibility for that but we should be winning these types of games. it was a chance for us tonight to get three points and we probably should have got them.
On the feeling in the changing room...
The lads are really annoyed in there. We know we've got such a great squad and a great team in there. There's suspensions and injuries but we've still got a good enough team to go and win this game.
We feel as though it's points dropped at the end of the day but we've got to keep our heads, it's a long season and we've got to keep working hard on it and keep focused.
On the defensive display...
Fozzy was brilliant, Cash was also. We had a slow start as a team, I thought they were there for the taking early doors and we should have punished that a bit more but that's football - at least we didn't lose the game.
Like I said last week though; we're winners. We're frustrated when we don't win, whether we deserve to win or not we have to start picking up points and winning games of football.
On the upcoming cup games...
It's exciting because we're in the FA Cup, a cup that's very historic in this country and one we want to go far with.
It won't be an easy game at Torquay United, it will probably be a different sort of game and then we go to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. It is every boys' dream to play at Anfield.
We've got to enjoy it and enjoy ourselves and ultimately if we do that we'll end up picking up three points in the league games, I'm sure of it.
On the travelling fans...
They were fantastic as always, I can't fault them.
They stuck with us throughout the whole game. It could have been easy for us to go hiding and it could have been for them too as well but they stuck with us and gave us a push.
Unfortunately we couldn't repay them but they were brilliant as always.
