Derby County’s Under-18s fell to a late 3-1 defeat at Manchester United Under-18s in their latest Premier League - North outing ahead of the October international window.

Danny Mate’s side had led at the break courtesy of Lennon Wheeldon, but the hosts struck three times in the second period to claim all three points.

Wheeldon’s opener came after 28 minutes, after being set up by Cruz Allen, and it had the Rams in control at the half-time interval following a positive first half.

United eventually equalised after 71 minutes with Ethan Wheatley scoring from the penalty spot, before goals in the final ten minutes from Finley McAllister and Malachi Sharpe earned them all three points.

Derby County Under-18s: Thompson (GK), Perry, Gill, Hawkins, Osayande, Robinson, Eames, Agustien (Oguntolu 81), Wheeldon, Allen, Davidson (Simons 61).
