Dajaune Brown and Tony Weston both scored hat-tricks as a rampant Derby County Under-21s side put Notts County to the sword at Moor Farm Training Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

A incredible display from Jake Buxton’s side saw them run out 11-1 winners to continue their 100 per cent record in the Central League Cup.

The Rams beat the Magpies 4-1 in December - and five goals from Brown, three off the bench from Weston, and one each from Keilen Robinson, Louie Sibley and Lennon Wheeldon made for an even more emphatic victory this time around.

Buxton’s side - bolstered by first-team regulars Sibley, Joe Ward, Liam Thompson and Tyrese Fornah - started quickly, with Ward whipping a dangerous corner into Robinson, but he couldn’t direct his header goalwards.

Derby took a deserved lead in the 11th minute through Brown, when Thompson’s effort was saved into his path and he made no mistake.

The Rams got a second in as many minutes through Robinson, as he fired home from an excellent Sibley cross.

Striker Wheeldon came close to a third but dragged his effort just wide, however it was 3-0 by half-time thanks to Sibley.

The 22-year-old picked the ball up on the halfway line, took it around two Notts players, drove forward and fired past the helpless Milai Perrot.

The young Rams started the second half as they ended the first, with Brown getting his second of the afternoon by picking the ball up on the edge of the box and firing home to make it four.

Substitute Weston got an excellent fifth, dinking a beautiful effort over Perrott into the far corner. The summer signing from Rangers got his second and Derby’s sixth minutes later, when a free-kick was headed out to him and he fired home excellently on the half volley.

Notts pulled one back straight away through Ryley Reynolds but the Rams immediately ended any hope of an unlikely comeback, as Weston completed his hat-trick.

It was Brown’s turn to get his hat-trick next, heading home from an excellent Cruz Allen free-kick.

The pair linked up again minutes later, as Welsh youth international Allen found the striker in space in the area and he finished for his fourth and Derby’s ninth.

The young Rams made it 10 on the 70-minute mark, with the duo combining yet again as Brown grabbed his fifth of the afternoon.

Wheeldon brought a frantic half of goalscoring to a close by picking up the ball on the edge of the box and firing into the bottom corner to put the finishing touches on an outstanding victory.

Buxton’s side return to action next Tuesday 23rd January, when they face Lincoln City in the Central League at Moor Farm Training Centre (kick-off 1pm).
