Wixted and Sharpe secure international call-ups.

Two members of Derby County’s Under 21 side have been handed call-ups by their respective countries during the latest international window.

Adam Wixted has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad for the Under 19 UEFA European Championship Qualifying Tournament next month.

The 18-year-old attacker, a product of Derby’s Academy system, has been selected for international duty by Ireland Under 19 boss Paul Doolin for the third time in two months.

They face Sweden, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Azerbaijan between 10th and 15th October.

Wixted impressed Doolin during two similar matches against Norway in August and Slovakia earlier this month.

Rhys Sharpe has been called up to the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad for their forthcoming Under 21 European Qualifying Matches against Belgium and Serbia.

Northern Ireland will face Belgium at home on Friday 11th October before travelling to Serbia four days later on Tuesday 15th October.

Sharpe, who gained his first Under 21 cap earlier this month in Northern Ireland’s away game against Belgium, has been an ever-present for the Rams’ Under 21 side so far this season.

The left-sider, comfortable playing at left-back or in midfield, signed professional forms in the summer after completing his two-year scholarship within Derby’s Academy.

Both players are yet to make their first-team debuts but have impressed for Lee Glover’s side so far this season.
