Rams Under 21s beaten in South Yorkshire.
Derby County’s Under 21 side fell to a 4-1 defeat at Barnsley in their latest Under 21 Professional Development League 2 North fixture on Monday afternoon.
The game started promisingly for Derby and striker Kwame Thomas, who was on the bench for the first-team last Tuesday in the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town, fired home from close range following a corner.
That goal was the difference between the two sides at the break, but the hosts stormed back in the second half.
Rhys Oates grabbed the equaliser before the hour and Jordan Tunnicliffe turned the game on its head soon afterwards.
Oates then added two more goals in the final ten minutes to complete his hat-trick and condemn Derby’s Under 21 side to back-to-back defeats, following their 1-0 reverse at Birmingham City last week.
Derby County Under 21s: Legzdins, Hendrie, Hanson, N Dawkins, Berry, Lelan, Hayes, Wassall, Thomas, Vernam, Dales.
Subs: Rawson, Behrens, Revan, Guy, Zanzala.
