Keogh: We'll Learn From Play-Off Defeat

Republic of Ireland international says the Rams will bounce back from Play-Off heartbreak.

Central defender Richard Keogh insists Derby County can come back stronger after losing in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final to Queens Park Rangers.
The Rams were beaten 1-0 by the R’s last Saturday, after striker Bobby Zamora netted a stoppage time winner at Wembley Stadium.
Keogh says both he and his team-mates have remained buoyant despite the defeat, and the former Coventry City centre-back believes the players will learn from their experience at the national stadium.
He told dcfc.co.uk: “You learn from experiences like this. There are a lot of positives for me as captain - to see the team play how they did was a really proud moment.
“People thought that because we are a young side we might freeze, but we didn’t, we played fantastically well.
“I am excited about the new season already; I know this team and I know what we can achieve.
“The best team lost and everybody could see that. That is football and that is why we all love it and hate it at the same time I suppose.
“Sometimes you have got to experience the lows to come back as a better person and a better player and I have no doubt we will do that.
“This group is improving all the time, but as much as we are disappointed, there is an air of excitement as well.”
Meanwhile, Keogh has pinpointed the likes of Cardiff City and Leicester City for the Rams to draw inspiration from, after the club endured Play-Off heartbreak prior to sealing promotion to the top flight.
He added: “You have seen teams do it [overcome adversity] - Cardiff lost in the Play-Offs to West Ham and then they end up getting promoted.
“Leicester had the real heartbreak and they game back stronger for it.
“You have got to look positively at it and take inspiration from teams like that - teams who have suffered a real low before coming back and finishing stronger.
“We have really got to attack it next year and we have got a great opportunity to see where it takes us."
