Frontman joins League 1 side on a youth loan deal until January 2015.

Derby County forward Mason Bennett has joined Sky Bet League 1 side Bradford City on a half-season youth loan.

18-year-old Bennett, who last month signed a new four-year contract with Derby, will remain with Phil Parkinson’s side until January 2015.

The Rams had hinted a few weeks ago that Bennett, who was named as the Championship’s Scholar of the Year at the annual Football League Awards in March, could move out on loan to gain first-team experience.

Head Coach Steve McClaren said: “We think a lot of Mason Bennett and our faith in him was demonstrated recently when we secured his services on a four-year contract.

“He needs first-team football to continue his development and heading to Bradford on loan is a good move for all parties.”

He added: “We will follow Mason’s progress very closely throughout the duration of his time at Bradford but it goes without saying we hope he enjoys a successful time there.”

The England youth international is a product of Derby County’s Academy and is the Club’s youngest-ever player, after making his debut at the age of 15 years and 99 days old in October 2011.

He has made 32 appearances and scored two goals at first-team level in a Derby shirt.
