As expected, Tom Lawrence will make his first Sky Bet Championship start in Derby County’s Friday night showdown with Hull City at Pride Park Stadium, kick-off: 7:45pm.

Gary Rowett, the Rams’ manager, said that would be the case in the build-up to tonight’s meeting with the recently relegated Tigers.

He replaces Johnny Russell, who drops to the substitutes bench.

Lawrence is one of two changes to the Derby starting XI that began the 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United before the international break as Andre Wisdom misses out through illness and is replaced by Chris Baird for his first League start of the season.

Sam Winnall, who joined Derby on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday on Transfer Deadline Day, begins on the substitutes bench.

Mason Bennett is also drafted into the squad this evening.

Andreas Weimann, the 26-year-old Austrian wideman, will make his 50th Derby appearance this evening.

Derby County: Carson, Wisdom, Keogh (C), Davies, Olsson; Huddlestone, Johnson; Lawrence, Vydra, Weimann; Nugent

Hull City: McGregor, Hector, Grosicki, Dicko, Toral, Larsson, Bowen, Dawson (C), Henriksen, Kingsley, Aina
