Derby County hit the road for a second time in a week on Saturday, when they make the long trip down south to face Bristol City.

The Rams will be looking to build on their run of three wins from four Sky Bet Championship outings and ahead of the match, dcfc.co.uk has pulled together all the key information you are going to need to know…

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS?

Gary Rowett confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Curtis Davies and Marcus Olsson ‘should be ok’ to feature in Derby County’s clash with Bristol City this weekend.

The duo were rested in midweek for the Rams’ Carabao Cup Second Round meeting with Barnsley after sustaining minor injuries in the 5-0 win over Hull City last Friday.

Both Davies and Olsson completed a light training session on Wednesday and it was hoped that the pair would return to full training on Friday ahead of the match.

On top of that, Rowett, the Derby manager, says he has no new injury concerns.

He was asked about George Thorne and whilst he is still building up his match fitness, Rowett confirmed that the midfielder ‘is fit’ should he call upon him for the trip to Ashton Gate.

Look out for a full team news update later on today on. RamsTV.

WHAT DID THE BOSS HAVE TO SAY?

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the trip to Ashton Gate, Gary Rowett said: “We went into that game off the back of a defeat and there was an extra motivation and zip about us.

“We finished off those chances that we hadn’t been finishing off in previous games in terms of opportunities and I thought we were very strong all around.

“It was a fabulous evening to be part of and they are the evenings the fans, the players and the staff live for and love.

“Of course, as a manager, you’re always thinking about the next one. I have said it already, but it was one good performance and my thought process is purely about how we can replicate it.

“In every game, we have got to find that feeling of needing to do better and needing to react to disappointment and transfer it into having that even we are elated and are playing good football.

“We need to have that desire, that drive and that extra five-yards in the way we close people down and move the ball.

“That’s a challenge that not only we face, but every team in the Championship. We have seen it before. Just look at Hull – they won 4-0 before the international break and then lost 5-0 after it.

“We know that can happen and finding that consistency is now the key at this stage. We go to Bristol and we need to show a different kind of resilience in some ways, certainly different to what we showed at Sheffield United.

“We have got to make sure that we don’t concede poor goals and give the opportunities a massive help, but we have got to show that exciting quality that we know we have got.”

WHO IS THE PLAYER TO WATCH?

Academy graduate Bobby Reid is enjoying his most fruitful spell in front of goal since breaking into Bristol City on a regular basis during the 2015/16 season.

The 24-year-old has already bagged six goals this term – the same amount that he notched over his last two years at Ashton Gate and that statistic alone suggests he is taking the 2017/18 season by the scruff of the neck for the Robins.

The midfielder originally made his Bristol City debut at the end of the 2010/11 campaign, but after gaining further first team experience with Cheltenham, Oldham Athletic ad Plymouth Argyle on three occasions he has been a consistent figure for his hometown club.

Last season Reid stood out for Bristol as he created a total of 23 chances whilst maintaining a 77% passing accuracy average and the midfielder appears to be just picking up where he left off so far this season.

WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE MET?

BRISTOL CITY 1-1 DERBY COUNTY
Saturday 17th September 2016

Derby County were dealt a late blow almost a year to the day when they last visited Ashton Gate as Bristol City struck in the 94th minute to rescue a point.

Ikechi Anya scored his first goal for the Rams on the cusp of half time after taking advantage some sloppy defending for the visitors, but the second half was one of frustration from the visitors.

James Wilson, Matej Vydra and Darren Bent all had good opportunities to add to the scoreline, but after not taking them, they were dealt the harshest punishment as the Robins made their late pressure count to nick a draw as Aaron Wilbraham converted a left-wing cross from close range.

WHO ARE THE MATCH OFFICIALS?

Top English referee Martin Atkinson has been appointed to take charge of Derby County’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Bristol City this Saturday.

Atkinson has officiated just two games so far this season – both coming in the Premier League – and has produced five yellow and one red card in those matches.

Over the last few years, the 46-year-old official has predominantly refereed in the top-flight, but has also been the man making the decisions in a number of high-profile competitions, at both club and international level, such as the Champions League, European Championships and World Cup.

His last Derby game came way back in August 2009, when he officiated the Rams’ 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Atkinson will be assisted by Peter Kirkup and Tim Wood on the lines, whilst Chris Kavanagh has been appointed as the fourth official.
