Alex Babos has become the third Derby County Under-23s player in as many months to be nominated for Premier League 2’s Player of the Month award.

The 19-year-old attacker, who is a second-year professional with the Rams, has been nominated for the October honour by opposition coaches after starting all three of Derby’s Premier League 2 Division 1 matches, in which he captained Darren Wassall’s side to victories over Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

His role was crucial too. He scored his first goal of the campaign in the 2-0 victory over the Reds as Derby ended their 100 per cent winning start to the 2017/18 season, before he laid on the assist for Luke Thomas to score against Spurs at Pride Park Stadium.

On top of that, Babos was part of the Under-23s team that defeated Real Union out in Spain to lift the Steve Bloomer Trophy.

As briefly mentioned, he is the third Derby player this season to be nominated for the monthly PL2 award after Kellan Gordon, now on loan at Sky Bet League 2 side Swindon Town, was put forward for August and Thomas was nominated for September.

Babos is up against Joshua Dasilva (Arsenal), Lukas Nmecha (Manchester City), Lewis Wing (Middlesbrough), Elliott Embleton (Sunderland), Declan Rice (West Ham United), Harry Burgoyne (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

The winner of the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award will be revealed next Friday (10th November).
