Frank Lampard has delivered a final message to the Derby County supporters ahead of tonight’s EFL curtain-raiser against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

The Rams’ boss will be taking charge of his first competitive game as a manager against the Royals this evening (8pm kick-off).

More than 1,600 Derby supporters will be making the trip down to Berkshire for the opening fixture of the 2018/19 campaign and Lampard has a message for them as well as the fans that will be supporting the club throughout the year.

In an interview with RamsTV, he said: “We need them and myself, my staff and my players will give everything this season.

“I truly believe that. There is a real energy in this team, we understand the size of this club and we understand the size of the fanbase of the club. When I say we need them, it will be during the tough months of the season when we need them behind us to get over the line with their support, be at home or away.

“More than that, however, I want to say a big thank you to them because we know that they are with us.

“We know they will support us and we will try to not only entertain them, but bring success to them.”

Good luck, Frank!
