Derby County will look to cap off a tough week with three consecutive wins when they travel to Riverside Stadium to face Middlesbrough on Saturday, kick-off: 12.30pm.

Frank Lampard’s side have put on two impressive displays following the international break to earn victories over Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion. Their next test is Tony Pulis’ second-placed side and here, dcfc.co.uk have gathered all the information you need ahead of the clash.

TEAM NEWS…

There are no fresh injury concerns for Lampard, however the game will come too soon for Craig Bryson and George Evans who are both dealing with small issues.

Joe Ledley remains out of contention following a minor procedure as does Marcus Olsson.

WHAT THE BOSS HAD TO SAY…

Speaking to RamsTV, Lampard said: “I can name the players and know the attacking players they have and also defensively they are very strong. You know what to expect with a Tony Pulis team. Middlesbrough are very solid at the back, generally with five at the back, but normally they negate your opportunities to create and score.

“We are aware of it, but I am focused on us. Hopefully we can bring a similar threat that we took to West Brom, create chances and if we get 20 shots again then we have a great chance of scoring goals and we will try and take that to Middlesbrough. We will go there and try and win the game.”

He added: “It’s more how we approach it because it’s two great wins and we need to carry that through. If we are going to be successful this season, it means the mentality and the focus throughout the squad has to be good so it’s important to keep our heads straight and speak after Middlesbrough.”

THE LAST MEETING…

Derby County 1-2 Middlesbrough

Saturday 21st April 2018

David Nugent’s injury time penalty pulled a goal back for the Rams but goals either side of the break from Mo Besic and Britt Assombalonga sealed the three points for Boro at Pride Park Stadium in the closing stages of last season.

Besic, on loan from Everton, opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he cut inside the penalty area and put his shot into the bottom-left corner.

Efforts from Tom Lawrence, Nugent, Marcus Olsson and Kasey Palmer weren’t able to find an equaliser. Adama Traore supplied the ball in the path of Assombalonga for him to fire past Scott Carson.

Curtis Davies was tugged down in the box in stoppage time and Nugent tucked away the goal for the Rams.

Derby County: Carson; Wisdom, Keogh, Davies, Forsyth; Huddleston (Hanson, 71), Johnson, Olsson (Weimann, 63); Lawrence, Vydra (Palmer, 63); Nugent

Unused Subs: Pearce, Roos, Jerome, Ledley

Middlesbrough: Randolph; Shotton, Ayala, Gibson, Friend; Howson, Clayton, Besic (Leadbitter, 81); Traore, Assombalonga, Downing (de Silva, 85)
