Harry Wilson was the hero for Wales as his second half free kick sealed a 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday night.

Wilson, who was substituted in the 84th minute for Ryan Giggs’ side, lined up the free kick 20 yards from goal and found the top corner, leaving Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph rooted to his spot.

It was his first competitive goal for his country and the win ensured Wales moved top of their UEFA Nations League group.

Tom Lawrence played the full game for Wales, whilst Richard Keogh captained Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland side.

Meanwhile, Alex Babos (Wales U21) and Jason Knight (Republic of Ireland U19) both picked up impressive victories in their respective fixtures on Tuesday.

Babos came off the bench to help his Wales side beat Switzerland 3-1, whilst Knight played the full game in their 2-1 victory over the Netherlands this afternoon.

To complete a positive evening for Derby County players, Fikayo Tomori kept a clean sheet as England Under-21s beat Scotland 2-0.

Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson and Everton’s Kieran Dowell scored the second half goals to ensure the Young Lions ended their Under-21 European Championships qualification campaign with a victory.

On Monday, Mason Mount was an unused substitute for Gareth Southgate’s England national side as they beat 2010 World Cup winners Spain 2-3.

All players will now return from international duty with Rams’ first team players back in contention for this weekend’s clash against table-topping Sheffield United at Pride Park Stadium.
