Derby County have been handed a boost ahead of their Carabao Cup Fourth Round tie away to Chelsea next week.

Frank Lampard’s side will head to Stamford Bridge to take on the Premier League outfit at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 31st October (7:45pm kick-off).

On-loan Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori have been given permission by the Blues to face their parent club.

Carabao Cup rules allow for clubs in the competition to make such agreements for players to appear against their parent clubs and Chelsea have accepted the Rams’ request for the pair to feature.

The pair joined Derby in the summer on season-long loan deals to continue their football development and have been key members of Lampard’s side so far this term.

Commenting on the news, Lampard said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chelsea, their director Marina Granovskaia and manager Maurizio Sarri for allowing Mason and Fikayo to be available for selection for the Carabao Cup tie.

“We’ve been in dialogue with Chelsea since the draw was made and it’s great, first and foremost, that the players will have the opportunity to test themselves against a top side.”

Mount, who was called up to the senior England squad earlier this month by Gareth Southgate, has hit the net five times in 16 outings in a Derby shirt.

England Under-21 international defender Tomori has made 15 appearances to date and scored his first career goal in the 2-0 Carabao Cup First Round victory at Oldham Athletic in August.
