Mason Mount’s meteoric rise continued on Thursday when Gareth Southgate named him in the full England squad for the first time.

Mount has attracted plaudits this season for his excellent displays at the heart of midfield for Derby County, with the England boss present at Pride Park to see the Rams’ No.8 feature against Blackburn Rovers in September.

Here, we take a look at the numbers behind his start to the season, as well as records that he could equal or better, should he play for England against Croatia or Spain.

Creator

Mount has offered a different dimension to the Derby midfield so far this term, and whilst his goalscoring ability is well-documented, he is also supremely creative.

He has made 24 key passes in the Championship this season, a figure that is matched only by Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

With one assist to his name, it’s surely only a matter of time before that number begins to climb.

Teen Spirit

The 19-year-old plays with such maturity that it’s easy to forget just how young Mount is, with no other teenager bettering his goalscoring record in the Championship so far.

With three goals to his name, Mount is level with Leeds United’s impressive forward Tyler Roberts.

When you add his two fine strikes in the Carabao Cup to the mix, it’s clear that Mount is a key source of goals for Frank Lampard’s side.

Feeling Old?

What were you up to in 1999?

Mount was born in the January of that year, and if he plays during this international break, he will become the first player born in ’99 to feature for England.

Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho could become the first player born in 2000 to play for the Three Lions. Scary.

Success At Home And Abroad

After impressing for Chelsea at various age groups, Mount made the loan switch to Eredivisie side Vitesse for the 2017/18 campaign.

He caught the eye with both his goal and assist output, and his excellent start at Pride Park means that his numbers remain hugely impressive.

In 36 league starts, Mount has been directly involved in 27 goals, with 17 goals and 10 assists.

International Rams

Seth Johnson was the last Derby County player to make an appearance for England, when he featured against Italy in November 2000.

That means that if Mount wins his first cap, he will become the first Derby player to play for England in the 21st Century.

When he does appear for his country for the first time, his record up to now suggests that it won’t take him long to make a serious impact.
