U23s Take On Plymouth In Premier League Cup

Derby County Under-23s begin the second round of fixtures in the Premier League Cup Group Stage on Monday night when they take on Plymouth Argyle at Loughborough University Stadium, kick-off: 7pm.

Having returned to winning ways in the Premier League 2 Division 1 against Blackburn Rovers last week, Darren Wassall’s side will look to carry that momentum through to the cup competition.

THE STORY SO FAR…

The Rams currently sit second in Group F following a 0-0 draw against Plymouth, 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa and a 4-1 victory over Bristol City.

In the trip to Home Park in October, Derby handed debuts to Under-18s players Morgan Whittaker and Jason Knights in the goalless draw. Whittaker had an effort whistle just past the post while Josh Shonibare also came close to breaking the deadlock.

TEAM NEWS…

The last time out saw the return on Alex Babos and Kellan Gordan from their loan spells as well as Calum Macdonald who had been kept out of action through injury.

Timi Elsnik could also see a return after finishing his loan spell at Mansfield Town.
