Derby County Under-23s face the long trip to Crawley this evening as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in Premier League 2 – Division 1.

Darren Wassall’s side have been in good form recently and head into the game on the back of a convincing 8-1 victory over Bristol City in the Premier League Cup.

Cameron Cresswell netted four in the game, whilst Jayden Mitchell-Lawson also scored a hat-trick in the game. The winger, fresh from a place on Frank Lampard’s first team substitutes bench, was nominated for the Player of the Month for February.

The Under-23s have won their last three games in all competitions, beating Leicester City and Aston Villa in their last two league fixtures.

A 1-2 victory against Villa was followed up with a 0-1 win at the King Power Stadium against the Foxes as the Rams sit third in the table.

They sit a point behind tonight’s opponents Brighton, and a win could put them within two points of leaders Everton should they lose against Liverpool tonight.

In terms of team news, Wassall is more than likely going to be without Max Bird who played the full 90 minutes for the first team on Saturday.

However, other than that, he has a full strength squad to choose from in this top of the table encounter.
