Fight and desire are important heading into the Sky Bet Championship's Play-Offs, according to Derby County midfielder Mason Mount.

The Rams showed plenty fight throughout their regular league campaign, but particularly in the dying embers of the season as they secured their play-off place on the final da .

A 3-1 home victory over West Bromwich Albion ensured Derby claimed sixth spot to set up a two-legged clash against Leeds United to battle it out for a place in the Play-Off Final at Wembley.

The Whites have beaten the Rams twice this season but Mount believes that counts for little going into the play-off games.

“We lost both games, so there is more for us I think going in to the game wanting to make those two losses a win,” he told RamsTV. “It is going to be a fiery game both home and away so we are looking forward to it.

“Whenever you play a side that you have lost to twice in a season, you want to win. Going into it, you know what they are about, they know what we are about, and I think going into these two games we are bringing momentum into our football.

“You never know what will happen and it is a special two games. It doesn’t matter what happens in the first leg, you never know what is going to happen in the second.

“We are at home first and how we have been playing at home, we have been scoring goals and playing attacking football and we want to carry that on.

“We played the whole season for this moment – to get into the play-offs. We tried to get into the top two but it is very hard to get into that position.

“We are in the play-offs now and we are focused on winning these two games. That is all we can be focused on.”

The Rams are no strangers to play-off games, having reached them four times in the last six years.

One man who has experience in these situations is central defender Richard Keogh, and he has been passing his knowledge onto the youngsters.

“I have looked back on some of the Derby play-offs from before,” said Mount. “Richard Keogh has told me about some of them as well.

“I have looked back and seen how much it means to the club how much it means to the players and how big of an occasion it is.

“Throughout the season we have had ups and downs. We have lost games and come back to win the next game, we have got that fight and that desire in the team so we are ready.

“We want to go into these games with that attitude we had in the last game and go and win these games.”
