Derby County midfielder Jason Knight earned his fifth cap for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s last night.

The 18-year-old came off the bench to help his side earn a valuable point in their 0-0 draw against Italy in their UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier.

Knight, who has made nine appearances for the Rams this season, was introduced on 62 minutes, replacing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Connor Ronan and helped his teammates keep a clean sheet.

Both sides were reduced to 10-men as Italy striker Moise Kean and Ireland forward Troy Parrott were dismissed following an altercation.

The result ensured Ireland stayed top of their qualification group with 10 points after four games.

Meanwhile, wideman Tom Lawrence was an unused substitute as Wales drew 1-1 with Slovakia in their latest Euro 2020 qualifier last night.

Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore put Wales ahead in the first half with a header, but they were pegged back in the second half by the hosts.

The result keeps them fourth in the group but qualification is firmly in their grasp.
