The Retained List for Derby County’s Under-23s and Under-18s, following the curtailment of the 2019/20 Academy season earlier this year, has been confirmed.

Under the Returning to Training protocols, with the safety of players and staff being paramount, the Rams’ Under-23 and Under-18 squads have begun training in preparation for the 2020/21 season.

Academy Director Darren Wassall and his staff regularly kept in contact with the club’s Academy players whilst they were unable to visit Moor Farm following the COVID-19 outbreak in March.

The curtailment of the 2019/20 campaign came with Derby’s Under-23s sitting in 4th spot in Premier League 2 - Division 1, while the Under-18s were also in 4th place in Premier League North.

As ever at the end of a season, decisions had to be made on the future of players in the Under-23s and Under-18s age groups, as well as offering scholarships to Under-16s players.

As a result, the club can confirm the following:

Under-23 squad players under contract beyond summer of 2020: Joe Bateman, Jordan Brown, Connor Dixon, Jayden Mitchell-Lawson, Matt Yates, Tyree Wilson, Cameron Cresswell, Callum Minkley, Josh Shonibare, Ethan Wassall, Jahmal Hector-Ingram.

Under-23 squad players out of contract beyond summer of 2020 and not offered new terms: Alex Babos, Josh Barnes, Ethan Sephton, Javaun Splatt, Yohan Greco.

Under-18s players moving up to join Under 23 squad: Archie Brown, Eiran Cashin, Festy Ebosele, Bradley Foster, Harry Halwax, Jack Stretton, Kornell McDonald, Liam Thompson.

Under-18s players retained for second year of scholarship: Osazee Aghatise, Max Bardell, Bartosz Cybulski, William Grewal-Pollard, Hugo Jinkinson, Alexander Matthews, Andres Perez de Gracia, Jack Rogers, Harrison Solomon and Seb Thompson.

Under-18s players released at end of contract: Jaden Charles.

Under-18s players beginning first year of scholarship: Marko Borkovic, Rhys Brailsford, Eli Christie, Olamide Ibrahim, Cian Kelly Caprani, Harvey Randle, Alfie Roberts, Charlie Rutt, Dylan Williams.

Derby County would like to wish all departing players well for the future as well as offering a warm welcome to those beginning the first year of their scholarships.
