Derby County’s Under-23s and Under-18s stepped up their preparations for the 2020/21 season with a pre-season friendly victory over Barnsley at Moor Farm on Saturday.

A mixture of Under-23s and Under-18s players all got 45 minutes in their legs after returning to pre-season training earlier this month.

It was the first time that any of the players had played in a match situation since March following the curtailment of the 2019/20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Derby ran out 2-1 winners against the Reds in what was a worthwhile workout for the youngsters.

Osazee Aghatise opened the scoring for the Rams in the first-half with a cool finish, before the visitors equalised before half-time.

Seb Thompson scored the only goal of the second half with a low strike to secure a 2-1 victory for Derby.
