Derby County midfielder Jason Knight has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad for their crucial 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Italy.

Jim Crawford’s side will face the Azzurri on Tuesday 13th October (4:30pm kick off).

Ireland go into the game in top spot in Group One, three points ahead of Italy ahead of their clash in Pisa next week and a win would put them in pole position for qualification for the 2021 competition.

Knight has featured four times for the Republic of Ireland's Under-21 side during the qualification campaign and will be determined to help his side qualify for the finals which will take place in Hungary and Slovenia next year.

The 19-year-old has played every minute for the Rams so far this season, scoring one goal which came against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup.
