Derby County Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of its former manager Tommy Docherty at the age of 92.


Docherty was the Rams’ boss between September 1977 and May 1979 in the First Division.

The former Scotland international had previously managed Chelsea, Rotherham United, Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa, Porto, Scotland and Manchester United before taking over at the Baseball Ground.

After two seasons in charge of Derby he went on to manage Queens Park Rangers for a second time and later Sydney Olympic (twice), Preston North End, South Melbourne, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Altrincham.

The condolences of everyone at Derby County go out to the family and friends of Tommy Docherty at this difficult time.
