Former Rams At The European Championships

There will also be three former Rams playing in the tournament this summer and Derby supporters will, no doubt, be following their progress closely.

Mason Mount (England) and Harry Wilson (Wales) both enjoyed excellent loan spells with Derby the 2018/19 season and will be looking to make their mark at their first major tournaments.

In addition, former Derby striker Matej Vydra - who won the Sky Bet Championship’s Golden Boot with 21 goals in the 2017/18 season - is part of the Czech Republic squad.

From a coaching angle, there are another former Rams to look out for on the England coaching team supporting Gareth Southgate.

Southgate’s trusted number two is Steve Holland and his footballing journey started out at Derby County.

He came through the Rams' youth ranks but, unfortunately, was released in his late teens after a bad injury, in 1987, without making a senior appearance.

Also on the England coaching staff is ex-Derby left-back and assistant manager Chris Powell.

Powell was signed from Southend United midway through the 1995/96 season and he contributed heavily towards Derby’s promotion and subsequent retention of their Premier League status.

He made 101 appearances for Derby in total, scoring twice, before leaving to join Charlton Athletic in the summer of 1998.
