Promising forward Lewis Dobbin is relishing his first opportunity to impress out on loan after joining Derby County on a season-long loan from Premier League side Everton.

The 19-year-old, who spent pre-season training with the Toffees’ first team in the United States under former Derby boss Frank Lampard, is aiming to make an impact on the Rams’ squad in Sky Bet League One.

Dobbin was in the crowd to witness Derby’s 1-0 opening day victory against Oxford United at Pride Park Stadium last weekend and he is now excited to don the Rams’ shirt and get down to work.

The youngster spoke to RamsTV about his first impressions of the club and he also gave a flavour of what supporters can expect to see of him in the season ahead.

On Joining Derby County…

I’m delighted it’s finally done. I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get started and meet the fans at Pride Park. I have had interest in me for a couple of weeks now and it’s finally over the line. I’m happy to be here.

This is a good opportunity for me to come here and prove myself and help take the club back in the right direction, which is where they deserve to be after everything that has gone on in the last year.

On Opportunities For Youngsters…

The team that Derby played last year, and the way they fought, makes me want to get out there on the pitch and show everyone what I can do as well. Hopefully we can win a lot of games and I can score a lot of goals too.

On His Conversation With Everton Boss Frank Lampard…

I was in his office a couple of times and he told me what a great club Derby County is and how I would benefit coming here. He was really happy for me to be here and encouraged me a lot.

On The Atmosphere At Pride Park…

I was here on Saturday and it blew me away to be honest. You wouldn’t expect that many fans in League One but when I first walked into the stadium and seeing that there wasn’t one empty seat in the stadium, it made me want to come here more and more; I’m excited.

On His And Derby’s Style Of Play…

I’m very versatile. I don’t have a set position and I can play anywhere across the front. I’m direct, I like to get forward and I’m quick. Hopefully I can bring some goals to the team as well.

On the team’s style of play, the way they played out from the back on Saturday and the way they pressed, it screams my name so I’m excited to get started.

Adapting To Life On Loan…

I don’t think it will be strange. With the people here, I think I will fit in well and they’ve all made me feel really welcome already. It’s my first loan so I’m more excited than anything else.
