Derby County striker Jack Stretton has signed for Sky Bet League Two side Carlisle United on loan.

The 20-year-old will spend the 2022/23 season with the Cumbrians as he looks to gain further first-team experience.

Stretton, a graduate of the club’s Academy, has made three starts and 13 substitute outings for the Rams after making his senior bow during the 2020/21 campaign.

The Scotland Under-21 international has scored one senior goal for Derby, which came in a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United last August.

Stretton’s loan spell at Carlisle will be his second away from Pride Park Stadium on a temporary basis after scoring three times in five appearances for Stockport County in the National League in the 2020/21 season.

Carlisle, managed by former Rams winger and assistant coach Paul Simpson, began the 2022/23 season with a 1-0 home win over Crawley Town last weekend.
