Derby County striker Jack Stretton has signed for Sky Bet League Two outfit Stockport County on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old has joined the Hatters for an undisclosed fee after spending the first half of the 2022/23 season on loan at fellow League Two side Carlisle United.

He scored twice in 23 appearances for Carlisle, who are managed by former Ram Paul Simpson, with both goals coming in the Cumbrians’ 3-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers in October.

Capped by Scotland at Under-19 international level, he enjoyed a brief loan spell with Stockport, then a National League side, in the 2020/21 season and scored three times in five outings.

Stretton, a graduate of Derby’s Academy set-up and a 2018/19 Under-18 National League Title Winner, made a total of three starts and 13 substitute appearances for the Rams after making his senior bow during the 2020/21 campaign.

He scored one senior goal for Derby, which came in a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United in August 2021.

Derby County would like to wish Jack well during his time at Stockport and in his future career, as well as thanking him for his efforts throughout his time with the club.
