Derby County midfielder Conor Hourihane has been nominated for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award for January.

Hourihane has earned himself a nomination after playing an instrumental part in the Rams' four straight Sky Bet League One wins in the opening month of 2023.

The Republic of Ireland international helped himself to three goals across the course of January including the vital winning strike in the 2-1 success against play-off rivals Bolton Wanderers midway through the month.

He also found the net in the 4-0 thumping of Accrington Stanley at Pride Park Stadium to start 2023, whilst he also set Paul Warne's side on their way in the 3-2 victory on the road at Cheltenham Town during the opening two weeks of the year.

Hourihane was, of course, further involved throughout January, starting in both of the Rams' Emirates FA Cup fixtures - the 3-0 home win over Sky Bet League One rivals Barnsley and the 2-0 defeat to Premier League outfit West Ham United in the Fourth Round of the competition at Pride Park.

The Irishman has been nominated for this award alongside Bolton forward Dion Charles, Alfie May of Cheltenham Town, Josh Windass of Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury Town's Luke Leahy and Kieran Phillips who was until recently on loan at Morecambe from Championship side, Huddersfield Town.

Supporters can vote for their January Player of the Month as the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month awards continue to celebrate the English game's very best on and off the football pitch.
